Check leads with Precleared before your agent adds them to Reply.io
If your AI agent runs Reply.io through Reply.io's MCP server, connect Precleared's MCP server next to it. Your agent checks each address first, enrols only cleared contacts in your sequences and blacklists the rest, so no sequence emails them by mistake.
What you need
- A Precleared key. Every new key starts with 14 days at 100 checks a day, then your own 100 a day over MCP, no card needed. Get a free key.
- Reply.io's MCP server. It takes a Reply.io API key as a Bearer token, or an OAuth sign-in for apps that only take an address. Team and organisation keys aren't supported.
1. Connect both servers
In Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http precleared "https://precleared.dev/mcp?src=guide-reply-io" --header "Authorization: Bearer pc_live_..." claude mcp add --transport http reply https://mcp.reply.io/ --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_REPLY_API_KEY"
In Claude.ai or the Claude desktop app, add https://precleared.dev/mcp?src=guide-reply-io and https://mcp.reply.io/ under Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector; Reply.io signs you in. See Reply.io's MCP docs.
2. Give your agent the rule
Paste this into your agent's instructions, a project's instructions or a skill:
Before enrolling a new contact in a Reply.io sequence, call Precleared's contact_check once for its email address. Send address_source (where you got the address) and sender_country, plus company_name and pitch when you know them. - ok_to_email: create the contact with reply_create_contact, then enrol it with reply_add_contact_to_sequence. Keep the receipt id with the contact. - consent_needed or blocked: don't enrol the contact. Blacklist the address with reply_blacklist_contact and note the next_step. - unknown: don't enrol yet. Supply the missing fact (recipient_country, default_recipient_country if all your prospects are in one country, or company_number), then check again. Every email must meet footer_text: usually who you are, a postal address and a way to opt out.
What happens to each lead
| Verdict | What your agent does in Reply.io |
|---|---|
ok_to_email | Creates and enrols the contact, keeping the receipt id |
consent_needed or blocked | Leaves the contact out and blacklists the address |
unknown | Holds the contact until the missing fact is supplied, then checks again |
Good to know
- Reply.io only enrols contacts that already exist, so the agent creates the contact first.
reply_add_contact_to_sequencetakes up to 100 contacts at once. reply_blacklist_contacttakes an email address or a whole domain.- Tool names come from Reply.io's MCP docs as of 30 October 2026. If they change, your agent sees the new names in the server's tool list.
- The
?src=guide-reply-iotag on Precleared's address only tells us which guide you used. It doesn't change your allowance or your results.
Every check has a signed receipt. Open precleared.dev/r/ followed by its id to show a client why an email went out.
