Check leads with Precleared before your agent adds them to Woodpecker

If your AI agent runs Woodpecker through Woodpecker's MCP server, connect Precleared's MCP server next to it. Your agent checks each address first and adds only cleared prospects to your campaigns; the rest stay out, ready for Woodpecker's blacklist.

What you need

  • A Precleared key. Every new key starts with 14 days at 100 checks a day, then your own 100 a day over MCP, no card needed. Get a free key.
  • Woodpecker's hosted MCP server, which signs in with your Woodpecker account. Blacklisting through Woodpecker's API needs its API keys & integrations add-on.

1. Connect both servers

In Claude.ai or the Claude desktop app, open Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector:

  1. Precleared: https://precleared.dev/mcp?src=guide-woodpecker, or add it from the Claude directory.
  2. Woodpecker: https://api.woodpecker.co/mcp/v1. Leave the OAuth client ID and secret empty, then Connect and sign in.

In Claude Code, add both, then run /mcp to sign in to Woodpecker:

claude mcp add --transport http precleared "https://precleared.dev/mcp?src=guide-woodpecker" --header "Authorization: Bearer pc_live_..."
claude mcp add --transport http woodpecker https://api.woodpecker.co/mcp/v1

Woodpecker also has a local server, the Docker image woodpeckerco/woodpecker-mcp-server, which takes your API key. See Woodpecker's MCP docs.

2. Give your agent the rule

Paste this into your agent's instructions, a project's instructions or a skill:

Before adding a new prospect to a Woodpecker campaign, call Precleared's contact_check once for its email address. Send address_source (where you got the address) and sender_country, plus company_name and pitch when you know them.
- ok_to_email: add the prospect with addProspectsToCampaign. Keep the receipt id with the prospect.
- consent_needed or blocked: don't add the prospect. List the address for Woodpecker's blacklist and note the next_step.
- unknown: don't add the prospect yet. Supply the missing fact (recipient_country, default_recipient_country if all your prospects are in one country, or company_number), then check again.
Every email must meet footer_text: usually who you are, a postal address and a way to opt out.

What happens to each lead

VerdictWhat your agent does in Woodpecker
ok_to_emailAdds the prospect to the campaign, keeping the receipt id
consent_needed or blockedLeaves the prospect out and lists the address for the blacklist
unknownHolds the prospect until the missing fact is supplied, then checks again

Good to know

  • Woodpecker's MCP tools can't blacklist addresses. Add the listed ones in the app, or through the API: POST https://api.woodpecker.co/rest/v2/blacklist/emails with {"emails": [...]}, up to 500 at a time, with your key in the x-api-key header. Domains go to /blacklist/domains.
  • addProspectsToDatabase adds people without putting them in a campaign. Use addProspectsToCampaign for cleared prospects.
  • Tool names and settings come from Woodpecker's MCP docs as of 30 October 2026. If they change, your agent sees the new names in the server's tool list.
  • The ?src=guide-woodpecker tag on Precleared's address only tells us which guide you used. It doesn't change your allowance or your results.

Every check has a signed receipt. Open precleared.dev/r/ followed by its id to show a client why an email went out.
